Event Post 10 - Aftermath
*For the last few days, Yuya had slowly and gradually regained conciousness. He wasn't all that coherent during Wednesday and was very in and out of conciousness, but that improved through Thursday and by Friday, he was thankfully mostly coherent, though his thoughts were occasionally still sluggish and it sometimes took him a moment or two to grasp what people were saying to him or to think up a response.
He was exhausted and he was still very weak. All he could really do was lay in his bed and look at the ceiling, or sleep. He could do small gradual movements, like sitting up, or picking something up from the table by his bed (which half the time resulted in him dropping said item), but these movements took a lot of effort and felt like climbing a mountain to him.
He really hated not being able to do much for himself.
Feel free to give him a visit at the infirmary.*

She's a few beds over from Yuya, to the point where she can only kind of see him and she can't raise her voice up enough to call up to him. Everybody else is asleep and she has nobody to talk to - she doesn't wanna go back to sleep so, she slowly reaches over to her nightstand and picks up her Duel Disk, only managing to hold on to it for a few seconds before dropping it on her chest.
She turns it on and uses it to call Yuya.]

*Yuya looks over to his duel disk as the call comes through. Slowly, he reaches over to it and picks it up steadily. He manages to bring it over to him before he too just drops it on his chest. He presses the button on the touch screen to answer the call.
He can't help but smile a little when he sees her on the little holographic screen and when he hears her voice.
It had been difficult knowing Yuzu was in the very same room as him, but was just that too far away to really see her clearly from where he was. Yuzu was the first thing he'd asked the nurses about when he came too enough to finally start thinking a little more clearly. Where was she? Was she okay? What happened to her? He was relieved when he was told that she was there in the room with him, but he felt uncomfortable that he really couldn't see her and wasn't close enough to speak to her, no matter what her conscious state was.
But he was relieved and happy to see her on the screen before him, awake and talking to him.*

[It's hard to really emote in this state, but there's a little relief on Yuzu's face as well. She's still too exhausted to really think straight, but...she's glad Yuya is awake at least.
She lets out a breath. On some level, she's aware that this conversation is probably gonna have a pretty slow tone to it. After a moment, she speaks again:]
How're you doing right now?

Hhm... really tired, but not really wanting to sleep right now. Can't do a lot though.

I'm exhausted, but...it feels like I've been asleep forever....so I can't just keep doing it...
[She sighs.]

*A slight forlorn expression appears on his face.*
...I really thought we'd won it. I didn't expect that move she did.
Just... out of nowhere.

*He remains quiet for a moment, then he gives her a small slow nod.*
That Galaxy Draw thing... it was able to build off my Pendulum Summon, so she could create her own pendulum cards to use...
*He cringes a bit, gritting his teeth.*
...instead of protecting Yuma... I've given him an even bigger challenge if he ends up having to face her again...
... especially if she does what she did to us...
...three of those Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragons. All at once.

[Yuzu had heard a little bit about Yuma's Shining Draw and had seen him once in his ZEXAL state, but this was still almost too much for her to handle.
She remembers the three Galaxy-Eyes. She can't help but let out a small whimper at the memory of them tearing her and Yuya apart.]
...we've...gotta warn Yuma...she's gonna go after him again...

*Yuya gives a weak nod in response.*
I already let Samasu-sensei know earlier today... he said he'd make sure to let Yuma know.
...I can't believe she's planning to use Pendulums against Yuma because of me.
... and all we can do is warn him. We can't help him beyond that. Not as we are now.

[She gulps quietly. She remembers seeing what happened to Yuya. She remembers it happening to her as well.]
...we're like this because of that...thing she did to us after the duel ended...right?

Yeah...
*He remembers what happened to him. The hand that went into his chest. How painful and uncomfortable it felt then... nothing. Next thing he knew he was waking up in the infirmary around a week later.
He winced a little bit, knowing Yuzu would of gone through that exact same experience too... and that she had to see it happen to him before that.*
... I don't know exactly what she did... I remember it, but...
...I wonder how long we'll be like this... or if...
*He stops mid-sentence. He was about to wonder if they'd ever recover, but he didn't want to face such a reality. He didn't want to think of being like this for the rest of his life, not being able to duel or even do much for himself. He didn't want to think the same for Yuzu too.
The downcast look on his face is obvious though.*

[Yuzu doesn't say anything, but her breath catches in her throat. The idea of being like...this on a permanent basis...not being able to take care of herself, not being able to go out and do all the things she loves with Yuma, Gongenzaka and Izumi.
...not being able to see Yuya duel or duel herself...
When she speaks again, her voice is cracked.]

...can I ask you something?

*Yuya looks at her curiously on the holographic screen and gives her a small nod.*
Sure. Go ahead.

[She's not in any state to hide her emotions behind her usual amount of bluster and confidence, so she just forces it.
She's so very nakedly scared right now.]

*Yuya frowns with concern at her for a moment, noticing how very scared she was. In truth, he was scared too. He didn't know what would happen to either of them, if they would recover or if they didn't, but that's why it was important for them to both be strong and support each other as much as they could.
With that, he gives her a small, reassuring smile and a nod.*

[Yuzu nods and sets aside her
She slowly pulls herself out of bed. It's a slow process, just getting out of bed and walking over a few beds to Yuya and it feels like she's walked a mile just to get there, but when she actually sees Yuya in person again and not just on a screen.
She slips into bed next to him. It's a little cramped, but she doesn't mind.]

It's no problem, Yuzu.
*He adjusts he blankets, making sure that they are covering her, before resting his head next to hers. He's silent for a moment, making sure she's settled, before he speaks. When he does, his voice is small and gentle.*
... I don't know what's going to happen to us. I wish I could tell you, but whatever happens, you don't have to face it on your own. It's like you said, no matter what, we'll face what happens together.
And I'll be right here.

[She slowly reaches for his Duel Disk. She hits the button to open the Extra Deck and gingerly takes the top card from it. As she flips the cards over so both of them can see, she briefly remembers what Yuya said when he summoned it.
"The electrifying dragon of unbreakable bonds." The symbol of their bonds.
She quietly takes in a breath and when she releases it, it's calm. Even if they lost...even if they're like this...none of that has changed, right?
They're still here with each other, at least. Yuzu focuses on that as one of her arms softly wraps around Yuya's waist and she lets her head rest next to his. She's still scared. But. Not as much.]
I understand.
[Shortly after that, her eyes slide shut and her breathing becomes more rhythmic as she falls asleep.]

*Yuya places an arm around Yuzu gently as he watches her fall asleep in front of him. For a moment, he watches her sleep calmly, while thinking back to the card, the symbol of the unbreakable bond he and Yuzu shared with one another.
He knew that no matter what they had to go through, that bond was going to carry them and keep them strong.
A small, content smile appears on his face as he feels his eyes becoming heavier. Eventually, his eyes also gradually slide shut as he falls into a relaxed sleep beside Yuzu.*
