Event Post 5 - In The Infirmary

*It had been two days since Yuya's duel with Daisuke (which took place on Monday), and he had spent that time in a really bad way in the Academy's infirmary. His fever had remained dangerously high, so to help combat it, the infirmary staff had hooked him up to an IV on his left arm, to make sure he got essential fluids (so he didn't dehydrate) and medication.
For most of this time, he had remained unconscious, but had been visibly uncomfortable due to the high fever.

Thankfully, late on Tuesday night, his fever went down to a much more acceptable level, and he was able to rest through the remainder of the night much more comfortably.

On the Wednesday morning, he finally regained conciousness, but he still looks and feels pretty awful.

Medallions. I assume that would refer to the pendants that you and Yuma-kun both wear.

Do you know anything about the power that Yuma-kun awakened while confronting them?

Yes.

He said it was called ZEXAL. It changed his form apparently and gave him the ability to do something called a "shining draw", which helps him draw what cards he needs. He also said he had access to new cards in that form. He told me he used a card called "ZEXAL Weapon - Unicorn Spear" which he doesn't have in his deck normally.

The power had been bothering him through a dream before that happened. Something about a door with a demon's face that was offering the power to him. He had that dream pretty repetitively for a few months. Then he told me that in his duel against Desperado, he'd used his pendant to open that door to accept the power.

['Shining Draw'...it sounds similar to the Chaos Draw she'd heard Dark Mist attempting to do. She wonders briefly if it's related, then notes down everything Yuya said.]

And...what about you, Yuya?

Has your pendant ever caused something out of the ordinary to happen?

*Yuya thinks for a moment.*

Well, I guess it tends to shine when I Pendulum Summon, but I always thought that was just the light from the summoning catching on it.
Though... my dad had always called my pendant a "Pendulum" and I guess it's a little odd that I also was the one that created Pendulum summoning, completely out of the blue.

...I kinda blanked when that happened though. Even to this day I don't truly remember it. Everything I know was from re-watching the match and then I had to re-learn the technique by dueling my friends.

On top of that... in the duel that put me in here, I had two new cards appear in my deck that weren't there before: Entermate Trump Witch, whose monster and pendulum effects support fusion and Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, a fusion monster.
Before this, I had no proper knowledge on how to do fusion summons.

It's because Rune-Eyes... called to me during that duel.

[Her eyes widen slightly.]

Your dragon...called to you?

[pendulum_soul]

*He nods.*

I was in a really bad way at that point. I couldn't even pick myself up off the floor. Then I got this image of Rune-Eyes in my head and the feeling that it wanted me to summon it. It was like... I just knew what I needed to do to get it out, even though I've never fusion summoned before at all.

Somehow, Rune-Eyes appearing to me gave me the last bit of strength I needed to be able to get it out and finish the duel with it.

I see...

May I see it? Your Rune-Eyes card?

Sure.

*He reaches over to the bedside table and takes a card that was laying face-down on top of his duel disk. He then hands it over to her.*

[She takes the card and looks it over carefully. She spends several minutes studying it, more than it'd take to just read the effect.

While still looking at it, she says to Yuya:]

And you said before you heard your dragon call out to you, you had never conducted a Fusion Summon in your life before?

[pendulum_soul]

Yes, that's right. Before that, I wouldn't of even been able to tell you how to do a fusion summon.

[unluckystar]

[Desdemona is silent for a moment. Eventually, she hands the card back to Yuya and smiles.]

Thank you, Yuya-kun. I think I have all I need for the moment. Juudai will probably still want to speak to you and Yuma-kun about all of this eventually. I'll ask him to hold off until you're feeling better.

*Yuya returns the smile as he takes back the card.*
