*A day after the events, leading to the duel between Yuya and Yuma, Yuya had woke up to find himself at the Academy's infirmary.
He was covered in scrapes, bruising and some burns, but thankfully nothing that wouldn't heal on it's own fully in time. Even his left leg was thankfully not too heavily injured, just currently swollen with some minor puncture wounds. He was still in a lot of pain, and he was still exhausted, but he was going to be okay.

Laying in the infirmary bed, he just stared up at the ceiling of the room in a daze. He'd seen more than enough of the infirmary last year and he really hadn't wanted to start off the new year back in this place, but, it couldn't be helped. In the end, he was just glad that he was able to return Yuma back to normal.
Though he wondered what kind of impact all this would have on his friend when he woke up.
Right now, Yuma, who was in the bed next to his, was still unconscious and he expected him to stay like that for a while longer yet. He'd really pushed himself to, and beyond, his own limits thanks to the influence the chaotic energy had over him.
It was going to take a while for Yuma to recover from that.

On the table, beside his bed, was his duel disk. On top of it was the dragon he used in the duel with Yuma.

I needed to make sure you were awake.

[Okay, his eyes were CLEARLY open.]

*He adorably puffs his cheeks in annoyance.*

Heeey! I was obviously awake! I don't need more pain than I already have!

Gosh, you go through a whole duel like that without a word of complaint, but somebody pokes your cheek and you get all dramatic about it. Maybe your priorities are a little off!

I had more to worry about then!!

*He goes quiet for a moment, before looking back to her, with a more subdued expression.*

Hey. Thanks, by the way. I figure you and Labrys are the ones that brought us here after we both collapsed.

...m-mmn.

[...]

[She reaches out and very gently wraps her arms around Yuya.]

*Yuya returns the hug, slowly raising his arms around her the best he can in his current condition. After a moment, he speaks briefly and rather gently.*

... thank you.

*You get the feeling that was more for the hug than anything else.*

You're a pretty amazing kid, Yuya.

Thank you for saving him.

[After a moment or so of holding the hug, she lets go.]

...have you heard if he's gonna be okay yet?

*Yuya gives out a sigh as he glances over to Yuma who's unconscious in the next bed.*

Yeah. They say that he'll be okay with rest, but they expect him to be out for a while. He was in pretty bad shape when you guys brought us here.
But that's physically.

*You can tell that Yuya is worried about what state he'll be in emotionally when he wakes up.*

... [She gulps quietly.]

That stuff he was saying...

...there's a good chance that he was burying all of that. ...really deep down.

*Yuya silently nods.*

I knew he was upset about it but... he seemed to be coping okay with everything. I didn't realize he'd been burying so much anger and frustration.

*He places a hand to his head.*

I really should of known.

Don't.

Don't blame yourself.

You did everything you could to support him...and I'm sure that means more to him than he could ever say. Just...after what happened, it would've been impossible for him not to feel those things.

I think...he just didn't want to let it control him. So he tried to bury it. [She sighs.] ...but don't blame yourself.

'Cause if you do, he'll blame himself for making you feel guilty and you'll both be miserable and then I'll be miserable and I'll start crying everywhere and that'll look really pathetic. Seriously, I swell up and turn red like a balloon.

*He can't help but let out a pathetic snerk at Alex's description, before he removes the hand from his head and gives her another nod.*

Hmn.

I guess for now, all we can do is keep supporting him.

*He's silent for a moment, before looking up at Alex.*

Hey... there's something I need to ask you, while you're here.

[She blinks.]

What's that?

I was visited by Shirou earlier. The person who was with me and Yuma at the time when everything happened.
Even though he's blind, he can sense people's auras and he told me that the aura of Labrys was different to the one of the other Barian. He described it as 'like static' and 'fuzzy'.

But he told me that he'd sensed it before too. He sensed the same thing from you, but he also said he'd sensed it at the Academy, during my parties and I can't quite figure out why.

So, I wanted to ask if there is any reason your aura and Labrys aura are similar.

[Alex looks down and away slightly. She fidgets somewhat, one of her hands coming up and rubbing her arm.]

*Yuya frowns sadly at her reaction. He feels like he accidentally brought up something difficult for her.*

I can understand if it's a sensitive subject, you don't have to answer but... it might help in figuring out why he's sensed the same thing here too.

[She grabs a seat and pulls it up to Yuya's bad, sitting down.]

...a while ago, I fought a Barian. His name was Scythe.

He'd been trapped in the ocean for ten years. [She sucks in a breath through her nose.] When he got out, he possessed someone and they were attacking people and eventually ran into me. I dueled them and...

...I couldn't save him. He was too broken and hurt from being trapped for so long. So he gave me what was left and his power and asked me to...

[She trails off, just staring down at the ground.]

*Yuya's frown deepens as he hears her words. He couldn't imagine what Scythe had been through, or what Alex had felt not being able to save him.*

... I see.

You don't have to continue if you don't wish to, I think that explains why Shirou felt a similar aura from you. He was sensing the power Scythe left to you.

So the question is, who is he sensing at the Academy with the same sort of aura.

I dunno.

Whoever it is...they're probably connected to the Barians somehow, though.

Yeah.

If he sensed it at my parties, then it must be someone amongst us here, but I really have no idea who.
I guess in the end it's not something to urgently worry about, most of the Barians seem okay to be honest, they just want to save their home.
It's just the Barian who dueled Yuma who might be the one to worry about.

....there's another one I want you to be wary of, Yuya.

*Yuya looks curiously at her.*

Another one?

The one who holds Number 104. They're the one who tricked Scythe, according to him...

If you see them...

Just. Be careful.
