Event 27 - After Finals Party
*Today is the day for Yuya's After Finals Party which is being held at the Obelisk Blue male dorms, in their huge events hall. This party is for everyone to celebrate their finals success and to see off the students graduating this year.
It is also open to new students, who will be starting the Academy in the new semester!
For Yuya, this is the last event he will be hosting at the academy as their events organiser, so anyone familiar with his parties will notice he's gone all out on everything! There's a very gold and red theme with the decorations that are everywhere, including gold and red balloons, streamers and tassels. There is also plenty of food and drink at the buffet table.
One side of the hall has tables and chairs, with balloons as their centre pieces. There is also a dance floor on the other side of the hall.
There is no particular dress code for the party, though dressing up in nice party clothes was encouraged!
As always; Post, mingle and have some fun!*

"Gokigenyo, Yuya-sempai. My name is Melody Tomozawa, and I'll be joining Duel Academy this year as a Ra Yellow. I'm terribly sorry to disturb you, but there was something I had to ask you. By any chance are you.....related to Yuusho Sakaki?"

*Yuya is a little taken back by the girl being so formal with him at first, but despite this he gives her a smile.*
It's nice to meet you, Melody!
And as for your question, I sure am! Yushou is my dad.
no subject
"IT REALLY IS YOU! I'VE BEEN WANTING TO MEET YOU FOR SO LONG!"
Suddenly, she realized what she was doing, let go of Yuya's hands, and stepped back, blushing.
*ahem* "Please forgive me for that immature display."
She then smiled at Yuya again.
"I met Yuushou-san once a long time ago, on my 5th birthday. My parents hosted my birthday party at KaibaLand, and there was a special invitational tournament being held that day."
Melody suddenly became starry-eyed.
"I'll never forget watching Yuushou-san duel that day. The way he dueled, the way his monsters moved....it was the most spectacular thing I ever saw in my life!"
"And then I got to meet him during the after party, and we talked a whole bunch. He told me he had a son who was really great at dueling and that I might get along with! And......I'm just...really happy to meet Yuusho-san's son in person!"

Haha, wow! I'm so glad you got to see and meet my dad back then! Sounds like he really left an impression on you that day, which is great!
Even though he's my dad, his dueling always left me with a similar impression, which is why I'm aiming to be an entertainment duelist like him!
I'm really happy you got your chance to meet me too. I'm actually graduating, so it's a shame I won't get to see you around the Academy, but it's really great to meet people who are fans of my dad.

Well... *He thinks for a moment.* ... I'm sure you already know about the classes that you'll be taking and all that boring stuff, but definitely make the most of being on the island! Explore it! Use the beach! Though if you see any 'keep out' signs anywhere, best to do as the sign says.
Also don't use the duel arenas at the school after the curfew hours. And try not to get involved in shenanigans that could lead to Dark Games.
But most importantly... make sure you make good friends here. They'll have your back when you need it most!

"Friends, huh? That's always been a pretty foreign concept to me. I've never had any friends. Never needed any, either."
no subject
*Yuya looks at her with slight concern on his face at first, before showing a reassuring smile through it.*
Friends are pretty important to have, even if it's just one or two close ones! If you just talk to your classmates and attend events like this, I'm sure you'll find at least one person who you want to be friends with!

"Well......what if I told you that my parents are the owners of Doux la Fleur Inc., one of the biggest, if not THE biggest bakery company in the country, and that as a result, they have a combined net worth of 35 billion dollars?"
no subject
Er, well... *He rubs the back of his head a little.* ... I don't know much about bakeries, but that's pretty cool, though... maybe if you meet someone you want to talk to, maybe start with your hobbies and interests. Something like that.
Telling people straight off that your parents own a multi-million company miiight attract the wrong kind of people.
Best to, y'know, get to know a friend well first before you mention that.

Back in grade school, upon finding out her family was filthy stinking rich, all the other kids assumed Melody was a stuck-up spoiled brat who thought she was better than everyone else (understandable, given how most other rich kids tended to act) and avoided her like the plague.
Feeling it wasn't worth the effort to try to convince them otherwise, Melody pretty much kept to herself throughout her days at school.
But this Yuya guy seemed to be okay with it.
Somehow....Melody couldn't help but laugh. "You really are an interesting one, Yuya-senpai!"
Finally, Melody stopped laughing, and gave Yuya a somber look.
"Are friends.......really that important?"
no subject
Friends have your back when it's the most important.
There's a lot of things I might not of even gotten through, if it wasn't for them. They give you support when you need it and cheer you up when you're not feeling your best.
*With that, he gives her a reassuring smile.*
I'm sure you'll do fine and will make some good friends here. Though, if it helps, you've got your first friend right here.

"Umm....th-thank you, Yuya-sempai. That.....really makes me happy."
She sat there for a second twiddling her fingers before she spoke again.
"I should probably let you get back to your other guests. But it was really nice talking to you!"
She took a slip of paper out of her pocket, scribbled something on it, and handed it to Yuya.
"Here, you can have this! Goodbye, and thanks again!"
And with that, she ran off.
And the slip of paper she gave to Yuya? It was a coupon for a free dessert buffet at any Doux La Fleur patisserie. Melody had written her phone number on the back.
