The last few days have been really awesome! I arrived at Duel Academy, I met my roommate and got to take a tour of the school. I had a talk with the principle and he's really interested in implementing the up-to-date solid vision technology to their duel fields so they can run action duels!! They won't be teaching about them this semester since they're super new here, but want to give the students a chance to try it out and hey, the more people that know about them, the more may look at going to the You Show Duel School to learn more!!
I had some spare time this afternoon, so I took the monorail to Domino City to check that out! I mean, it's the dueling capital of the WORLD, it's every duelists dream to get the chance to come here!
Though what's up with the park? Are they doing construction there or something? One area looked like a meteor had fallen on it or something, then was moved.
It's fun here though!
...I just hope my mom doesn't replace me with animals while I'm gone.

And yes, a meteor crashed and bounced or something.
no subject
It... bounced?? Didn't think meteors could do that!
no subject
It could in theory if hit at the angle that lets a stone skip on top of water.
no subject
Huh, that must of been some sight to see!

If the monster is in an advantageous situation or position, it can increase the sensation when damage is given. It can do things like increase actual physical damage to the monsters or field when an attack connects and increase the sensation of pain for the duelist.
As an action duelist, you have to learn the best positions to attack from and the best ways to dodge attacks. You have to see where the opponent is attacking from and respond quickly.
You asked before about the danger of it and I guess I gave a really short reply, but the long explanation is that, yes, there is a set amount of pain threshold a duelist feels. It's not enough to hurt the duelist physically unless they attempt to do anything dangerous on purpose. If something too dangerous does happen, there's always someone in the control room who controls the solid vision, who can put safety lines in place.
The majority of the time though, if you fall from something, you rely on your monsters to catch you. Of course it can reduce their reaction time of dodging or attacking so that's why you have to try and not fall from a building or your monster if you choose to ride it.
If you fall and it looks like your monster won't get to you, then the guy in the control room can activate the safety line.
If you fall and it looks like your monster won't get to you AND the guy in the control room decided to take a nap, that's where you're screwed and you can only rely on your own reflexes to save you. If you hit the floor, then yeah, that's not a good thing.
There is a bit of a daredevil aspect to it, but people find that entertaining! They like the suspense!
I guess it's kinda like boxing or wrestling. There's a danger to the sport, but you have to know how to handle yourself in order to prevent giving a serious injury, or protect yourself from serious injury. You have to know the right ways to protect yourself, move around and counter moves.

Safety line, so like a net in a circus for high wire acts.
Figured.
I assume you sign off on a waiver to use for any possible loss of limb or life.
no subject
Erm, I don't know about that. I've never signed anything, anyway!

It pops in there.
And your "Action Duel" thing seems disturbingly effectively of getting rid of someone with little no to evidence.
no subject
I still don't see it myself but... guess I don't really think about things like that.
no subject
Or a serial killer.
Hrm.
Can I see a live demonstration of these soon?

Once she passes the entrance exams anyway.
The academy will be letting students have a go with them too!
no subject
Not impressed.

Yuzu is just waiting for her exam date.

Well, just come along to our action duel when it takes place and we'll definitely entertain you with our action dueling!!

... Uh, the park is. ... would you believe a giant monster showed up and was dragging around a rock?
no subject
But hey, if anyone really likes them then the You Show Duel School back in Miami City specializes in them!!
...I might believe it more than a bouncing meteor. Did the solid vision of someone's duel disk go haywire or something?
no subject
Uh, no. It was a real monster. A big one. Very painful. It sorta stepped on me. It's why I lost my glasses.
no subject
Wait...a real one? You mean like... not made by solid-vision holograms but... a real... monster?
no subject
Yeah. Real ones. ... You should probably know, but there's real monsters in this city. Like, living.
no subject
How did a huge monster appear right in the middle of the park. Did it just appear from nowhere?
.... is it just in this city that they're real, or elsewhere too? There have been times back home where I thought I saw duel monsters in the street, but they'd vanish really quick. I always though it was someone's solid vision playing up.
no subject
Honestly that's something I'm trying to figure out the specifics of.
Oh, you don't know? Apparently something... Happened, a long while back, and it made Duel Spirits, manifestations of the Duel Monsters themselves from other dimensions, physical here. Apparently it's mostly around Japan, but a lot of it is centered at Domino City... I guess Miami City is farther away from it all.
no subject
Hahaha! It's just silly stuff really! Nothing important!
Huh. Did you see it appear? Now I'm curious too!! I want to know how real big duel monsters just appear like that!
Wow, that's amazing! I never though duel monsters would be actually really real! I guess Domino City really is the dueling capital of the world!
no subject
Yes, I was there when it happened, with a friend of mine. It just sorta... Appeared, in a flash of light. Caused a big mess when it did.
I guess that's a way to look at it. Apparently this place is sorta the "Weird Capital" of the world, too.
no subject
I think it just makes things more interesting!

Heh.
Oh! Let me know when you get your new glasses and I'll show pendulum summoning to you!

My roommate at the academy, Yuma, wants to see it too!
no subject
And, ah...
I wouldn't hold your mom to that too hard, if you can.
no subject
Ehhh.... as long as it isn't like the person above said and she has 60 of them by the time I go home...
no subject
Well...60's a lot, but. Three years at Duel Academy is a long time too...
no subject
...I really don't mind the six she has now, but who knows how many more she'll add in three years.

I don't think she'll go THAT overboard though.
I think.
Maybe.
