I got an invite to the Action Duel Tournament.
I really wanted to go and take part in it, but...
... I declined.
It really sucks, but, it's the same month as finals and there's no way I'd be able to concentrate on both.

What, that's bullshit.
Tell your teachers to let you go and have it serve as a practical exam or something!

If I was just doing one duel, maybe that would of worked, but if I made it to the end that would be several duels I'd need to prepare for and go to and... I just wasn't confident I'd be able to do that plus study for and take the finals too.
I feel I made the right choice. They'll be other tournaments in the future, it just would of been awesome to be able to take part in one of the first action duel tournaments outside of Maiami.

If only it had been the month after... it would've been cool to see you take part in it.

Though it's good you're focusing on your finals. It wouldn't really reflect good on you, anyway, if you had skipped out on those...

Yeah, being seen as a drop out, at Duel Academy no less, wouldn't of looked good.
Besides, I'm almost at my third year, and I also battled for my right to stay here when I almost got expelled, so to drop out or even risk my place here now would be really stupid.

...I think you're making the right choice, for the record.

Yeah. I believe so too, as difficult it was to do.
I'll have other shots at tournaments, but I wouldn't have another shot at my finals. I really want to pass and see through my final year here with you and Gongenzaka.

We're gonna become much better duelists in our last year, here! Then we'll all take our dueling out there and show everyone what we've got!
no subject
Yeah, exactly!! We'll all do our best in our last year and then we'll be more ready to show the Pro-League just how great Entertainment Dueling is!!

Yeah! I am super honoured that I even got invited! Everyone else I've seen so far, who are signed up, are Pro-Duelists or former pros. I got in more because I was the founder of Pendulum Summoning and my dad was the founder of Action Duels themselves.
Had I joined, I would of been up against some real tough competition, that's for sure. My only real advantage against them would of been that I have more experience with Action Duels, but most of the others probably have years more experience on me with actual dueling. Not to say I wouldn't of tried if I had been able to join, because it would of been really fun to get to duel against such people, even if I ended up losing in the first round.

I'm sure they will! If anything, I should be glad that Action Dueling has gotten enough notice for an actual tournament to be held outside of Maiami City now! I'm sure my dad would be really happy to see this!

I thought you wanted to become a pro with your Entertainment Dueling.
no subject
I really do! But... I don't want to risk my education for it. It was either choose the tournament, or choose my finals and I felt my finals was the right choice to make.
I'll have other chances to show off my Entertainment Dueling in the future. I'm sure of it!

If you enter and win, you'll have already done everything you went to school for in the first place!

I know and that's what made the decision so difficult. Of course, if I entered, I would enter to do my best to win but... what if I didn't win? What if I lost in the first round? I'd be up against duelists with professional backgrounds.
If I did badly, I'd run the risk of not kickstarting my pro career very well and I wouldn't be able to go back to Duel Academy. In fact, it'd probably look bad in the long run that I flunked out for a tournament I didn't win.
I guess I'm just trying to think realistic and long-term.

Is it really wrong to be concerned with that though? I just decided to choose what I felt was the more safest and secure choice.
Yeah, if I entered the tournament now and won, that'd be amazing and would really give a boost to both me as a pro-duelist and to Entertainment Dueling but... if this tournament does well, and I think it will, they'll be other Action Duel Tournaments in the future I could enter.
Besides, I've worked really hard at Duel Academy and dueled for my right to stay there when I was almost expelled. I don't want all that to go to waste. I want to be able to graduate next year, alongside my friends.

Hffffffff.
...
You and I are two very different people, Sakaki.

It'd be boring if we were all the same, right?
In the end, neither choice is completely wrong or right. It just comes down to what the person making the choice feels the most comfortable doing.

I dunno about outshining the others taking part... a lot of them are pros or former pros.
Besides, if they didn't want me taking part, they wouldn't of sent me an invite.

That would be... kinda confusing.
