Event 27 - After Finals Party

*Today is the day for Yuya's After Finals Party which is being held at the Obelisk Blue male dorms, in their huge events hall. This party is for everyone to celebrate their finals success and to see off the students graduating this year.
It is also open to new students, who will be starting the Academy in the new semester!

For Yuya, this is the last event he will be hosting at the academy as their events organiser, so anyone familiar with his parties will notice he's gone all out on everything! There's a very gold and red theme with the decorations that are everywhere, including gold and red balloons, streamers and tassels. There is also plenty of food and drink at the buffet table.

One side of the hall has tables and chairs, with balloons as their centre pieces. There is also a dance floor on the other side of the hall.

There is no particular dress code for the party, though dressing up in nice party clothes was encouraged!

I was born with them? That tends to be how it works, in my type of case...

It soon became apparent that this girl wasn't dangerous, so Melody stopped backing away.

"Born with them? So.....are your parents cat people, too? Or were you some sort of experiment or something?"

I wish I knew.

*She said that so quietly you almost don't even catch that, unless you're listening extra hard-- but then again, it's a party. It's gonna be loud there.*

Um... I definitely wasn't some sort of experiment or anything, I can say that much.

Melody cautiously approached the girl, and began looking her over.

"You know.....now that I get a good look at you.....you're kind of cute."

*well, she didn't expect THAT, and she seems to fluster up almost immediately at the response.*

T-thanks? You too? I mean-- wait, weren't you just freaking out about me? Now I'm cute? Huh??

Melody jumped back at that response, and gave the only response her still slightly-confused brain could come up with.

"Please don't eat me."

*... puffing her cheeks.*

I don't eat people...! I eat normal food. Like rice and chicken and fish and even vegetables sometimes.

Melody had no clue how to respond to this. But just then, her Duel Spirit, Madolche Puddingcess popped up.

Just a moment, Lady Melody! I sense something about this girl! Perhaps you should calm down and give her a chance.

Melody nodded to Puddingcess, then turned back to the catgirl.

"Okay, then. Let's find a nice quiet place to talk."

*... she's very clearly looking at the Puddingcess for but a moment.

... but she figures it might be rude to point them out now, and she doesn't want to scare this girl further... So she nods.*

Sure, okay. I think if we just go out into the hall, it'd be away from most of the noise...?

Melody let the girl out into the hall, took a deep breath, then looked her right in the eye.

"Okay, listen. I don't mean to be rude, but last I checked, girls with cat ears and tails wasn't exactly normal. And yes, I know. 'Normal' is kind of subjective, given that Neo Domino City's had to deal with ancient Egyptian shadow games, Aztec dragon gods fighting a sealed demon, and bloody ATLANTIS, but still......."

Melody took a moment to steel herself before continuing.

"So anyway, I'd just feel a lot better if you tell me more about yourself. I mean, you mentioned you were born this way, but......are you from some kind of ancient cat tribe? Are you a Duel Spirit brought to life by a shadow charm? Were you born with some kind of curse? Just what in blazes ARE you?"

*seems a little flummoxed by the questions*

Well... I guess technically there is a curse? Least from what I vaguely heard about... But I don't think that's why I'm a cat, no. I was just born like this, that's all I know.

*she looks away slightly*

I mean-- I get it that you're pretty off-put by my appearance, but isn't it weird to ask something so personal when we just met? If you wanna know more about me, I'm an Obelisk Blue student who uses Chemicritters. I actually wanted to join LDS, but they rejected my application for some reason. *she gives a huffing sound, like she's still way annoyed by that.*

[melody_tomozawa]

A sad look suddenly crossed Melody's face.

"You're right, I'm sorry. I've been acting like a right git to you, and I really shouldn't."

She then smiled and held out her hand.

"So, let's start over! Hi, I'm Melody Tomozawa! I'll be joining Duel Academy this year as a Ra Yellow!"

Well, uh...

*she takes a deep breath. Least she's trying to restart there? Just roll with it. She takes your hand, shaking it.*

I'm Sonia. Uh... Samasu, Sonia. I'm going to be a third year.

[melody_tomozawa]

"It's nice to meet you, Sonia-sempai. Shall we head back inside? It seems like that Yuya guy's about to make a speech."

[cattailtricks]

Oh, right. Yuya... *she seems to think about something for a moment, but then she mentally waves it off.*

Right, he and Hiiragi-san are graduating. It's a bit sad to realize.

[melody_tomozawa]

The two headed back into the party hall and listened to Yuya's speech.

"So, I'm guessing that Yuya guy and that Hiiragi girl are friends of yours? Come to think of it, something about that Yuya guy seems awfully familiar......"

Ah... Not really close friends or anything! But I admire them from the Super Junior League. Especially Hiiragi-san, since she ended up the first singles champion...

[melody_tomozawa]

"Super Junior League, huh? I've never been much for the whole pro duelist scene......"

Hnmm... *her tail flicks around a bit*

So why are you coming to Duel Academy, specifically?

[melody_tomozawa]

Melody took out her phone, poked it a few times, then showed it to Sonia.

On the screen was a man dressed like Dark Magician, a woman dressed like Dark Magician Girl, and a little 5-year-old Melody dressed like Card Ejector.

The three of them were happily waving at the camera.

"Because these two are the most wonderful parents a poor little rich girl could ever have, and they deserve to have a daughter who can duel with the best of them."

... O-oh. I see.

*somehow, Sonia seems rather bothered by that picture.*

Well... That's good, isn't it? That you feel like you can do something for them, coming here.

[melody_tomozawa]

"It is. But there's something else, too."

Melody took a card out of her deck and stared at it thoughtfully. It was Madolche Queen Tiaramisu.

"Thanks to mastering this deck, I've really had sort of a.....thing for Xyz summoning. And I'm wondering if I can learn more about it here."

[cattailtricks]

... Well, you should be able to. This is one of the best schools there is.

Though if you had wanted to just focus on Xyz Summoning, being in LDS might've been a better choice...

[melody_tomozawa]

"I don't JUST want to focus on Xyz summoning. Besides, LDS is full of a bunch of selfish egotistical elitists who think that they're the best of the best just because they're LDS students. Especially that one spoiled brat by the name of Masumi Koutsu, who I've had the EXTREME pleasure of beating TWICE."

I wanted to go to LDS.
